Award Ceremony
The Nederlandse Aanmoedigingsprijs voor Genealogie
(Dutch Incentive Prize for Genealogy) for 2006-2007
Award Ceremony was held at the Central Bureau of Genealogy
at The Hague in the Netherlands on 23rd April 2009.
The ceremony began at 2.00 p.m. with an introduction by Mr. Bert Lever, the Director of the Central Bureau of Genealogy, who kindly hosted the event.
Next, Mr. Pim ten Hoorn, the Secretary of the Netherlands-Malaysia Association (VNM) gave a short talk on links between the Netherlands and Malaysia, now and in the future.
The highlight of the event was the speech by Mr. Leon van der Hoeven, the Chairman of the Prize Jury who explained the reasons on why the book 'History of the Dutch in Malaysia' won the prize.
Immediately after that, the award ceremony was held.
This proceeded with a presentation by Dennis De Witt entitled ‘History of the Dutch in Malaysia, from a genealogical point of view.’
H.E. Dato' Dr Fauziah, the Malaysian Ambassador in the Netherlands also gave a short speech about the economic and diplomatic ties shared between Malaysia and the Netherlands. This followed with a closing by Bert Lever.
